We are delighted to to be that a fully affiliated Dog Mentor school following the successful assessment and training completed Ruby and Bella, their owner/handler Mrs Fryer and their other school handlers, Mrs Ellis, Miss Greenhiill and Mrs Hodgson! The Dog Mentor programme has built upon the benefits of the human-animal bond by providing children with positive experiences with dogs that can help them educationally, developmentally, emotionally and socially
What is The Dog Mentor?
The Dog Mentor Programme has built upon the benefits of the human-animal bond by providing children positive experiences with dogs that can help them educationally, developmentally,
emotionally and socially. The aim of The Dog Mentor is to create a completely universal offering in your environment for not only social, emotional and mental health well being but also covers all aspects of curriculum based education in order to improve educational outcomes.
Over the past 11 years, implementation of The Dog Mentor Programme in Primary and Secondary schools across the UK has proven to have significant impact on many children’s lives. The Dog Mentor Programme has been implemented in over 350 schools all over the UK with over 800 educational professionals having been trained. There here are now more than 410 Dog Mentor dogs working in school every day.
Dundale is very proud to have our very own Dog Mentors, Ruby and Bella and to be part of such an amazing programme.
